Evan Mobley – the Rising Star of NBA
We discuss the rise of rookie Evan Mobley, the young star of Cleveland Cavaliers
Evan Mobley was taken third overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft today. Since then, many wondered if he would fulfill his potential in the NBA and he has done just that.
Mobley’s stock has only risen since. He is top five in rookies for points, defensive rating and rebounding percentage. Mobley is also one of four rookies in NBA history to average at least 15 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
The youngster is a big fan of Kevin Durant, but also watches players like Anthony Davis and Kevin Garnett to improve his game. Mobley also was selected for the Rising Stars Challenge alongside Cade Cunningham of the Pistons. The duo have been the best performing rookies in the 21-22 season.
Where does Mobley rank?
Mobley has also adapted well with Jarrett Alen and Darius Garland in the Cavaliers. At the tender age of 20, he has already been compared to some of the greats in the game. The Cavaliers have also reached as high as 3rd in the Eastern Conference with a 61% winning percentage.
The youngster has pretty of time to prove his consistency and high level of play. With the Cavs performing well, Mobley has also been more aggressive on the offensive rebounds. Mobley averages 14.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.94 steals and 1.76 blocks in 33.8 minutes.

The statistics paint a picture, but there is a long way to go for Mobley. The season ends in March, after which the NBA Playoffs will be pivotal in deciding which teams reach the finish line. Mobley, with the Cavaliers have given the team a good chance of performing well in the East.
He has also been awarded the KIA Player of the Month in the Eastern Conference in December. In their rookie year, Cunningham and Mobley are set to go head to head in the quest to be the KIA Rookie of the Year. Both rookies have taken their game to another level and the next few months could determine if Mobley will stand with NBA royalty.
